Here are answers to some of the questions people often ask when they are interested in working at Home Forward.
Home Forward is the largest provider of affordable housing in Portland and operates the Housing Choice Voucher Program in Multnomah County.
Home Forward is a public corporation. We contract with the federal government to administer housing programs. We operate independently with our own Board of Commissioners, like the Port of Portland.
Home Forward has many properties around Multnomah County. New Market West, at 135 SW Ash St., is our primary office headquarters. Hollywood East, at 1605 NE 45th Ave., is the headquarters of our Property Management Department. Home Forward serves the City of Portland, Multnomah County, the City of Gresham, and other communities in East Multnomah County. Portland, Multnomah County, and Gresham each appoint commissioners to our board, and we work very closely with our jurisdictional partners on housing policy and programs.
Forward released a formal Equity Statement in October, 2021, which recognizes our past, addresses our current work around racial equity, and states our commitment to becoming an anti-racist organization. It was composed by our Equity Team over the course of 2020 and adopted in 2021 to provide a framework for the agency’s equity agenda.
The collective bargaining units at Home Forwards are AFSCME and several of trades unions.
At Home Forward, many positions allow the opportunity for a hybrid workplace, in the office and remote, and/or an alternative schedule which is different than the standard Monday-Friday 8-hour work week.
